--I wish i knew that Biology is actual Chemistry.... Chemistry is actually Physics.... and Physics is actually Maths!!!
--i wish someone gave me the advices below:
--If you don't like maths then i suggest you shouldn't take ANY of the subjects i mentioned above.
--Also, submitting all your work on time is VITAL.
Last minute work does not help at all because you get confused, worried and you'll probably won't do well.
--Reading in advance helps even though you'll kind of forget some of the stuff you read by the time the actual exam comes. But still its way easier than reading something for the first time.
--You will definitely be stressed out and worked out so you have to take breaks, rest and sleep well.
--Be careful because research shows that 3/5 of first year students gain 2-5 ponds in their first year. I'm guessing its because there is junk food all around and students don't have the time nor skill to cook.
--Facebook, msn. myspace, Hi5, T.V, games, Internet e.t.c takes much of your time. don't be an addict of any.
--Whether you are the best person on earth behavior wise, someone is going to get on your nerves and you are probably going to get on someone's nerves. Try your best to avoid fights, gossips e.t..c.
--Study groups are a good way to study and ask questions and interact with your fellow classmates BUT make sure you are in the right one because most study groups end up in gossiping and talking. If you go to one study group and they were not serious, next time avoid them.
--Make use of your, teaching assistants, tutors. Afterall you paid for them!
--Get to know your profs! because you WILL need them for one thing or the other. eg. reference for jobs, Masters e.t.c.
--Try and write every exam on the scheduled time because some profs purposely make the make up exam wayyyy harder and besides extra weeks will not make you more prepared because you will probably keep on procastinating anyway.
--When you miss an exam, the best excuse is getting a doctor's note. ( food poisoning is good excuse lol) NEVER tell your prof "i slept in". you are sure to get a zero.
--Use the library and librarians.
--Don't plagerise. Some profs are wicked in detecting plazerized papers. Use as many sources just give the authors credit.
--Stay far away form unserious students because they WILL drag you down with them.
--You don't have to go to EVERY party on campus please. once in a while is okay i think.
--Don't miss classes! because it makes your reading easier and sometimes profs will hint what they will ask on the exam and you might miss that. Studies show that 91% of students that fail did not come to class often. Missing one or two classes because of you have to is okay.
--There are so many other search engines apart from google. Use meta search engines because they scan through so many other search engines at the same time. E.g are : info.com, mamma.com, excite.com, clusty.com e.t.c.
--Snow days don't really help because profs only rush you to cover up.
--Especially girls, be careful around the campus. There is always rape cases (reported or not). work with a friend at night.
--Never leave your textbooks, computer e.t.c unattended. Your fellow students can be petty thieves.
--Prepare your mind. Some profs are soooooo boring and some are just mean! pray you get less of any.
--Play some kind of sports, ANY!
--Be careful how you spend your money, you don't want to be broke half into the semester.
--First year, stay on campus res. if you are not living with your parents. because driving to school or taking public transit sucks! when you get used to the system, you can live anywhere especially near school.
--You will wish you never started college but trust me people that did not go to college end up doing some kind of manual jobs mostly.
--For your electives, choose courses you will probably do well and you are interested in.
--Most importantly, have FUN through the process of uni and keep your GPA as high as possible.
----ps: Sorry for typing this much....You seem really smart thinking about college at this time. i wish you ALL THE BEST hunny!!
----pps: hope this is not discouraging, really, college is not that bad and is WORTH IT and you'll have fun.

I wish I had known what I wanted to do with my life. I actually left college for a couple years to travel. I only wish that I could have done this before wasting the money on the first time around, but if I didn't go the first time, I wouldn't have met my husband and would have missed out on some interesting parties and relationships and even the few courses that I really enjoyed and yea, those A's didn't hurt. College isn't all academics. You have to have balance, keep up on your work and you can party too and I wish I had the focus and drive, but at that time I hadn't a clue who or what I wanted to be nor did I think I'd survive the year without killing myself. I have mood issues and I wish I had known how serious it was the first time around. I wish I had known that my parents, high school teachers, friends and just about everyone I ever met pushing me to go to school wasn't reason enough on it's own. Another interesting thing is, if you study liberal arts, if you can find something that really excites you, some subject, you can use it in all your classes. I like to specialize while generalizing. Makes the research papers a hell of a lot easier. You just have to make sure you're not plagarising yourself, yes, it can be done.

In no particular order...

1. The ACT/SAT is just a test that won't matter in the long run.

2. That those scholarships they give everyone will get taken away unless you get unrealistically high grades.

3. That courses I took at my university wouldn't transfer elsewhere so I'd be stuck at my university no matter what. How community college courses can transfer but university courses can't I'll never understand.

4. Science majors require an unfair amount of time and effort. As a science major you'll be spending twice (or thrice) as much time in classes/labs as someone in any other major and 2 or 3 times as much homework.

5. That I wouldn't have a car if I went to the university. I wouldn't have even considered going to the university had I known that would be the case. I would have gone to my community college.

6. That if you drop a class after a certain date you are not entitled to ANY kind of a refund. Not even a partial one.

7. It would have been nice if they had explained the parking rules correctly at orientation and that woman hadn't yelled at me that one day for asking the wrong question.

8. All of campus jobs are between minimum wage and minimum wage + $1.25 per hour.

9. If you hate your roommate housing won't be able to find someone else for your.

10. This campus is filled with McChristians and other religous zealots.

11. This university cares more about conference attenders looking good to people on the outside than it does about its students.

12. The Spanish classes you have to take to finish this honors program will be unreasonably difficult and the Spanish teacher will be a priss.

13. Your GPA will suck when you graduate because all of those first year courses will be tying you down even though you did much better your last two years.

14. It takes forever to get a degree.

15. The internship program here is a ripoff

16. When you graduate no one is going to care about your degree (at least not in this town).

17. You are not allowed to think for yourself.

That's some of it.

i wish i knew i could have finished school at least one years earlier

i wasn't aware that my financial aid took care of my summer school payments too if i had taken any summer school courses

although i finished my degree in 3.5 years, if i did summer school then i could have gotten out earlier

also i wish that i knew what i was goign to do after receiving the degree, but i didn't figure out until appx. 3 months ago

i hope that helps

ps. a lot of us after graduating from college dont end up doing what our degree holds
for example, ppl with math degrees might up doing business or ppl with english degrees might up doing art stuff LOL
there are just way too many possiblities
and try not to limit yourself
and dont feel trapped by those around you who seem to have all planned

best wishes
