Without question, Honolulu has the best. You can almost hear the sun cause a sizzling sound as it dips into the Pacific Ocean.
I've seen most of the major cities in the world and Honolulu has without a doubt the best sunsets on this planet. Of course you must go to the beach and to the waters edge to get the maximum effect.
Have fun!

Ok I was stationed in YUMA Az for 3 years. Yuma is usually the hottest spot in the nation. It's right on the CA/AZ/ Mexico boarder.
The sun sets were SO amazing! OMGosh. They were pink, lavender, baby blue, orange & red. When that sun started to come
up over those mountains no matter how mad, sad. depressed you were...it always manages to take your breath away & put a smile on your face. It was like you were in another place on another planet.
Then when the sun actually came up...watch out because it's blinding & you are back to reality. Lol
The night sky is amazing also. It's a desert town. & not a lot of steet lights (like in a big city) so you can go out and the sky is clear, see so many shooting starts. You can see SOOO many stars. It's sooo beautiful again it makes you think about your place in the universe. AWESOME!

i think you can have the most beautiful sunsets anywhere in the US... I've been driving down the road in IL with cornfields on either side of the road and seen awesome sunsets... I've been to the St Petersberg, FL area and saw a sunset on the beach and that was wonderful since i LOVE the beach... I've seen beautiful sunsets in San Diego... I'm sure Hawaii would be the best but we all can't afford that... oh and i also was in Sedona, AZ and saw a sunset on the top of a mountain/hill, it was pretty cool, we were staying at a hotel near this parking lot and lookout point & as it got closer to sunset the place got packed with people, it was like they were coming to see fireworks, i'll bet they do that every night there!! the sunset was nice especially combined with the beauty of the red rocks of Sedona, everyone should see that, it's awe inspiring... good luck with your decision and have fun on your trip... i'm going to Alaska in June and can't wait!! at that time of year the sunset is probably like 10pm there, they have so many hours of daylight its crazy!

I have seen some incredible sunset in Hawaii. Believe it or not in Washington State in the summer too by the Strait of Juan de Fuca. California has some wonderful places too along the coast that aren't crowded but have fantastic sunsets.

I just returned from Maui two weeks ago and I stayed in Kihei which is on the western side of the island. They had a nice sunset. But I like any city on the beach.

Key West,Florida. You can watch the sun come up in the east and follow it all the way to sunset in the west.Unimpaired by mountains, buildings or smog. Fantastic!

Denver and places around Colorado have the best views. There is nothing like seeing an multi colored sky over the Rocky Mountains as the sun sets over the snow capped mountains in the winters or ever the evergreens in the summer.
