i know about the order of operations i just wasn't sure if it was supposed to be a negative... i havnt worked on math in a year. i hating starting a new school year, i have nine courses XD

always do division and multiplication first

Subtraction 4th
look at the first letters in My Dear Aunt Sally
12 / 3 - 9 * 4
do the 9 times 4 first
do the 12 / 3 next
you will be left with a subtraction

Hasen't ur teacher taught you this. U just use PEMDAS(paretheses, exponent, multiplication,division,addition, subtraction)This is the order youre supposed to work in. If the process is'nt there skip it. First you multiply -9*4=-36. Then you divide 12 by 3 = 4. After that you subtract 4-36 and that gives you negative 32 for an answer I HOPE ITS RIGHT

use BEDMAS (brackets, exponents,division,multiplication,addition,subtraction)
so divide 12 by 3
4 - 9 x 4=?
then multiplication
4 - 36 =?
4 - 36 = -32

It's the order of operations
P - parenthesis
E - exponents
MD - multiplication and division happen left to right
AS - addition subtraction happen left to right

well first do order of operations:PEMDAS
SO...parentheses.... there are none
exponents.... there are none
multiplication...9*4=36
division.....12/3=4
and now 4-36= -32
