My boyfriend and I are in a semi-long distance relationship. I notice that it is a lot easier to pick fights and vent and b**ch online than on the phone or in person, just because it is so impersonal. I know my boyfriend is getting tired of it, and I feel horrible. He doesn't always have cell signal so we can't switch to talking on the phone all the time. Has anybody else experienced this, and if so, do you have any advice?

We see each other two weeks out of the month; when we are together it is bliss.

Hmm.... maybe we HAVE run out of something to talk about! Wow, hadn't thought of that. Any suggestions on topics? LOL

Yes, while my hubby was in Iraq we did that online a lot. The nice thing about writing your words is that you can proofread them before sending them. If you say something nasty don't send it immediately read through it, make sure you really want to compromise your relationship over a couple of stupid words.

Ask yourself who else you can vent to or fight with?

Normally we fight with those that it's safest to fight with. You wouldn't vent to a teacher or a supervisor. Parents and significant others are much safer. By safer, I mean they have a long term commitment with you and will accept things other would not.

With online chats read what you wrote before you hit "send."

There's nothing wrong with venting to your boyfriend. Question: Re-read the text of your chats. Are there some common issues? Do your vents repeat themselves?

I once would eat breakfast with a colleague. Each day I'd listen to the same complaints, problems and issues. I'd make suggestions and pass on encouragement. However, the next day I'd listen to the same complaints, problems and issues. My colleague was getting some benefit from this but I became frustrated. Does this appear in the text?

If you are in a long distance relationship and have never seen your beau, the frustration comes from not seeing each other or not taking the step to arrange to meet the person (under supervision if you ar under 18!

Its just that people cant "read" the "tone" of whatever you are saying while chatting..For example when your in disbelief you say "What!!"...and when you are exclaiming you are happy you just tend to use "What!!"..now tell me do u see any difference between the two whats??...Its really annoying when the other person doesnt get it!!...You should try net-telephony..Use google talk to talk to him via the internet..Its free and better than chatting!!!

instead of fussing, complaining or nagging, try to let your feelings be known in a nice way.
