“All things are subject to interpretation whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is a function of power and not truth.”
Perhaps I just wanted to see if folks would a) Catch on to who I was quoting and b) if they would agree or disagree. Perhaps some things are just for fun in other words.
I've read enough to know that he is basically less than thrilled by religion and women (though he is ever so polite about this latter) and high on arrogance.
But that is just my opinion.

Farm animals. I am tired tonight. I wanted to note that despite not agreeing with everything the man has said there is one or two things that ring true. I'll admit to not being a scholar of him...I couldn't sit through Human, All Too Human in Psyche class...but have developed a grudging fondness for his cavelier attitude just recently.

When the horse asked Nietzsche, "Does this abyss make me look fat?", Nietzsche responded with your quote, a kind of koan.
Where you place your attention, there your energy flows.
The only abyss is separation from Creator, lack of Holy Christ Mindedness.
Hence, an abysmal mirror-to-mirror diversion of false consciousness, abyss-gazing too often is, whether by herd or by Sooperman.
You might enjoy the challenge of "Climb the Highest Mountain," Mark Prophet, or "A Philosophy of Universality," O. M. Aivanhov, or even "Men in White Apparel," Ann Ree Colton.
Cheers.

Be careful when you look into the abyss. In case some berk sneaks up behind and pushes you in. That abyss is way deep. And full of early-CGI beasties.

It means for instance, that if you fight evil, you should take care that you do not become evil yourself.
This is actually the explanation for the line before this quote in Nietzsche's essay - but I suppose you just seen the moive "abyss" and didnt read Nietsche
(or else youd know)

You are the Abyss. Is it separate from 'you'? And if so, who are you? Of course it looks back at you. That what Abysses do.
