1/100 is .01 or 1% of whatever you are dealing with as a whole.
If you have 100 then 1/100 of that is ONE.
If you have 200 then 1/100 of that is 2.
Get it?
Hope this helps.

I think this is maybe what you were looking for? How to do the long division? That is actually how you get that 1/10 is equal to .01 so if so, continue reading: * Keep in mind that the formatting on this is not accurate, the lines should be over the 1, 1.0 and 1.00 and so on)

you take 100 into 1 or
____
100[ 1

Now to figure this out, you say what times 100 will give me 1? Well nothing, so you have to add a decimal point and add a 0:

______
100[ 1.0

So, same idea, what times 100 gives you 10 (forget the decimal point here, you look at 1.0 as 10 in this case). Well nothing so:

__.0_____
100[ 1.0

So now, do the same thing and add another 0 to get

__.0____
100[ 1.00

And now you have what times 100 will give you 100? ok, 1 so:

__.001__
100[ 1.00

OK, so a fraction is basically just a number. We don't understand your question because you're not actually giving us a problem - just a fraction. You couldn't just say "What's the answer to 5?" 1/100 (same as 1 with a line and 100) is just a number like one cent of a dollar. You're giving a number but not a command to do to it. Tell us what the problem is (such as "1/100+1/100" or "Simplify 1/100" or "Expand 1/100" or "Convert 1/100 to a decimal" or "Convert 1/100 to a percent") and we can help you out. Contact me when you update it so I can update the answer.

I don't know what your question is, but here's a quick all around lesson.
1/100 is PART/WHOLE..like one blue marble out of 100. Divide (Top by Bottom) 1 by 100, and you have 0.01. For %, multiply by 100 and you have 1 %.
So, 1/100 = 0.01 = 1%
Some fractions must be reduced...that's when a number can be divided into both parts: example 15/25 both can be divided by 5, so it reduces to 3/5 (Always divide the largest number possible that goes into both).
Lastly, to find what a fraction equals, divide the top by the bottom, so 3/5 = 3 divided by 5 = 0.60. To make that a percentage, multiply that by 100 = 60%
so, 15/25 = 3/5 = 0.60 = 60%
Hope that helps.
