Would the same plan also be manditorily utilized by present Government employees?

I live in the UK and make use of both. That is I make use of both our universal health care system, and I have private insurance as well. Private insurance that so far I have not had to use (and god willing, I will not need to use) though my family have had cause to make use of the NHS.

I live in the UK and work in the NHS (our universal health care system). It has problems, but not as many as the US healthcare system has. Despite spending much more per head of population than other developed countries, the US has worse health outcomes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care#Economics Life expectancy and infant mortality figures in the US are higher than in other developed countries, despite more money being spent (and wasted) in the USA.

In the UK there are waiting lists for routine problems. Problems that can not wait are treated as emergencies. Also, in the UK, people can also have private health care.

I can understand Americans being proud of living in the richest and most powerful country in the world. What I can not understand is why Amercians settle for an expensive healthcare system where babies die that would have a better chance of life if born in another developed country.

What people are calling "Univeral Healthcare" is actually socialistic health care. Taking away privatized healthcare would lessen the quality of care for everyone and dramatically slow down research since there wouldn't be any benefits for big companies or individuals to make more money. They'd all be getting the same paycheck from the government.

Vote for "Universal Healthcare" only if you want your doctor's office to look like a southern California DMV office.

Candace80, my doctor's office ALREADY looks like the California DMV!

To answer your question within context: I don't believe that Universal Health-care means what everyone thinks it means. I believe it means universal ACCESS to the present health care system. Everyone who has a plan has a different plan. By the time they start to agree and get all the details worked out, we'll all have died of old age!

I'm a government employee and would welcome a Universal Healthcare system if it is done right.I would think that the Universal Healthcare would include all people no matter the job they hold. I would really like to see a better system in place that won't cost an arm and leg to have. Would also like to see dental coverage.
