I don't have mine out but my 11 year old had hers taken out when she was 3. She spent a night in the hospital after words--she has asthma and she had problems with it after another surgery she had so they just kept her to watch over her.
She was fine, her throat was a little sore for a couple days--make sure you have a lot of cold liquids to drink, popsicles, ice cream, pudding, anything that is cold and smooth. It will make your throat feel better.
My 17 year old may have to have hers out this summer--if she gets strep throat one more time, then they will be coming out.
Good Luck--nothing to fear!

Yes, when I was about 8 or 9. Just eat lots of cold stuff, like freeze pops, it will make your throat feel so much better.
