interdisciplinary is associated with multidisciplinary. the former is to approach a concept using intervening disciplines, while multidisciplinary is to use separate approaches from different disciplines. to validate a correspondence of terms would be to use the terms while applying the different approaches from different disciplines.

What is reduction? Reduction could be a possible trait we adapt for most operational purposes, when we are compelled to thinking in stereotypes or over-simplifications in order to get anything done and to avoid the paralysis of analysis in complex situations. The process of reduction is, however, a better base for action if we understand the underlying complexity and if we confront our other prejudices, assumptions and stereotypes along the way.

This would require our clear understanding of the end purposes. As integrity of any system is always based upon certain inherent principles that w must not harm, or lose sight of. Certain essential aspects could also be most vulnerable, and they might get affected first in face of any change or alteration. A clear understanding, therefore, of both the structure and function of a system, alongside its inherent values, principles and norms is prerequisite for any attempt for modification, may that be of depreciative or incremental in nature.
