You are breathing, your eyes are moving around and focusing into the computer screen's words. Your tummy is growling and you are thinking, "I have got to get something to eat in the next 10 minutes". Your butt is reminding you to not sit too long, to go out . It is Saturday night for crying out loud.

Your brain is mentally calculating how many more presents you need to buy TODAY.

Yep, the best indicator is your brain thinking and planning and doing little jobs.
PS

My final answer:
your little fingers are still typing away............

AWARENESS. Although breathing is the sign of life, there are instances where life existed when breathing stopped such as in some yogic practise and in so called "clinical death" cases.Hence I would say that awareness is the sign of life, because even in the above two instances, awareness was present; even in coma, some minimal 'unconscious awareness would be present.
