If you are going to answer this question...please read these details to see what I have already tried. Thanks in advance.

My system has two optical drives: a DVD ROM drive and a Multi Drive.

The Multi Drive recognizes disks with data on it, but if I put a blank disk in, it plays dumb. If I try to drag and drop files via My Computer, I get the Drive Inaccessible error.

Disk Management shows the DVD ROM drive and the capacity of the disk, but the Multi Drive shows zip (except that the drive exists...but no capacity, nothing in properties, etc).

It's not the drive itself, as I have interchanged another drive that was sitting around. They both play the same game.

I tried Master/Slave settings, and Cable Select settings. Nothing.

Nothing obvious in BIOS/CMOS either.

Does anybody have any other ideas? This is driving me crazy.

make sure you have the right drivers installed. dragging and dropping files onto the multidrive will only work if you have the software to burn files onto the multidrive...we're assuming the multidrive is also a cd/dvd burner, you don't say.
