Above all, the Iraq War is NOT, nor was it EVER, about Terrorism. They just used Terrorism to sell it to a gullible and easily panicked population. And panicked people do not THINK.

As far as our continued involvement in Iraq, I think Abraham Lincoln's analogy sums it up best,"it's like holding a wolf by the ears....you don't much like doing it, but you don't dare let go". By that I mean the U.S. leaving Iraq now would result in a middle eastern state that would make pre 9-11 Afghanistan look like Des Moines, Iowa in comparison. It would become a haven for every anti west terrorist group in existence to launch attacks against us. I should preface this with saying that I've always thought that invading Iraq was the right war at the wrong time. We were already over-extended with other commitments and lacked enough foreign support to effectively complete the objectives. However, now that we are there we need to stay long enough to ensure that a stable and friendly government is successfully installed.

Well thanks to Bush we cannot just leave.

Worst possible scenario occurs right there.

There would be another giant massacre/civil war between Sunni's and Shiite's.

Iraq was just fine until the west went there. Same with Rwanda. Sunni's and Shiite's were together and Hutu's and Tutsi's lived together. Then the west came, screwed everything up.

When Belgium left Rwanda we had the genocide.

If the US leaves Iraq on a dime a similar situation occurs.

We do need to take a new approach though.

Obama for prez.!

Well, in my opinion, engaging in a war to get the economy going, is an old and obsolete strategy. We had to change our Political and economical structure in Mid. 80's, but dinosaurs in charge do not know any thing else coz they are not educated enough, and Cons. don't want to change, so that's why we are in this deep - - i - now?
There are no terrorists !? We are the terrorist ?

Best Regards.

And we got lots of Gi Joe kids like Adolph ?! lol

I say we need to stop fighting a politically correct war with outrageous rules of engagement that puts our troops in more danger than necessary. Let the generals decide how to fight this war, untie their hands and pull out all stops and let the US military use it's full potential and do what it does best. Kick some ***!

If we had fought the war on terrorism the way we fought in WWII, the war would have been over with 3 years ago. A gag order on the liberal media, no rules of engagement as stated in the Geneva Convention, no concern for collateral damage to civilians.

It's a big mess, like that because we shouldn't have gone in the very first place!

USA is better defended & safer with its troops on the homeland.

As said before, the borders are still wide open for any terrorists to come in from Mexico, or maple-bombers from Canada.

If terrorists were a threat to America the American Government would have closed the borders tight.

They aren't worried terrorist will sneak in for a reason.

Bring the troops home....

We need to put more pressure on the Iraqui Gov't to take over and take charge. Til then, we need to be smarter about how and what we do, but we can't just pull out in force. That would make things worse.

I think we should TELL the Iraqi leaders "you have until_____ to take control of your country or else we'll be gone by______"!
Four and a half years is more then long enough for them to have set up a government and take control!
