Many people have told you the correct quote. I will now give you a short list of things that churches do with your tithe. This list is not all inclusive and does vary.
Some staff are paid. They don't get rich from their salaries. Well, most don't. MOST.
Most churches (that I know of anyhow) tithe from the tithe. This means part of your donation goes to the regional office for things like church planting, etc. Also, part of your tithe probably goes to a mission somewhere. Maybe even more than one.
Then there are things like the mortgage, electric, heat, air conditioning, water (for the restroom), and if you attend a larger church, they may have a kitchen where they prepare (or offer you to prepare your own) snack when they have large meetings. Not to mention coffee and the sundries that accompany (not cheap), they probably have doughnuts on Sunday mornings too.
What if the youth group goes on outings? They need a church van, which has maintenance; plus gas, oil, wiper fluid - all the things your car needs.
In addition, most churches publish (quite openly) their operating budget on a regular basis. You can also attend the meetings where they decide how much goes to pay which bills. Churches actually have as difficult a time as most households do - and by that I mean they "live" month to month.
So, most of them do not deserve the accusation some here have made of being greedy. It just isn't so.

First of all, if you are going to ask a question like this, make sure your quotes are correct. The LOVE of money is the root of all evil. Ok, now that we have that out of the way, you must consider that running a church is not free, there are expenses to be paid, utilities, payroll, ect. Well anyway, now you know why they need and/or want it "so badly".

There is this very misconception. The Bible teaches, the LOVE of money is the root of all evil. Yes, indeed, the church uses offerings and tithes of members to fund it is function in keeping the church together. Comfortable chairs and lights dont come free. So no, money itself is not evil. The wrong use of it and the love of it bring about condemnation. Best wishes.

Um fact of the matter is we still live in a world where we do need money to live , I guess it depends on the church some just want there name in lights and to be rich , other's want it to truly help the less unfortunate , money being the root of all evil I think just means that it is possible to have to much and sometimes to much steers people away from there first love ( Jesus)

money drives people to be evil. Because they do bad things to get it, they do bad things with it. Money makes people feel superior and gets them to compete for those material items that make them look so important. Those who have more of it have power that goes with it. Which is why some churches want it so badly. The corrupt churches use faith of its followers to take more and more of it, because they have gotten addicted to that power and will go to any lengths to get it. Not all churches are corrupt, but many are. Even good people can be swayed and corrupted by power and money. And it is so easy for people of the church to gain this power because people trust them more than any body.

Well, I don't think money is the root of all evil. It depends on how you use the money. If you give to charities and help people, then it's great. However, money can be used for many evil things as well. Churches need money so they can keep the church running. It's the real world, and people need money.

The quote in the bible goes the (LOVE) of money is the root of all evil not wanting money to do good work. But the money you give to organized religion is spent on advertising, legal costs for pedophile cases, gold ornaments in churches etc. So give your money to the red cross ,salvation army, hospitals or children charities

The actual saying is "The love of money is the root of all evil"
I don't begrudge churches for needing to pay the bills...it is the greedy ones that make all of the rest look bad....and the greedy ones are run by humans...humans who love money. Don't blame the church.
And here I am, not even a religious person defending churches. Who'd have thunk?
