I currently have a Music Hall MM-5 that just doesn't cut it for me. I've even had to through out some old worn out records I bought on ebay because they sounded terrible.

Hi Doug. Pro-Ject make some really good turntables at affordable prices. It is best not to get a used turntable because there could be problems with it. I use a Pro-Ject myself and can highly recommend one of their models. I have bought many Records on eBay,some never played. It is best to buy the ones that are in excellent condition.

Here is a link for Pro-Ject Turntables.

EDIT...If you must have a used turntable, then eBay is your best bet. Thorens are pretty good. If my answer is not satisfactory for you and i am the only one to answer (which i hate!) you might try putting this question in the home theater section.where you will get more answers.
