If you look under the fuel tank, you can see a hose thats held in place by a clamp. Remove this clamp, and pull the hose off to drain the tank completely. Throw out the contaminated gasoline, and add 2 or 3 gallons of clean gasoline, then drive to the nearest gas station and top off the tank. When you said there's water in the gas tank, did you mean someone opened the cap and poured water in it? or did you left the cap off, and it had rained, then water got in ?? If a lot of water got into the tank, you'll need to drain it completely. If that water makes it all the way to the fuel injectors, it may damage the injectors, and now you'll need to replace those as well.

A mechanic friend suggested adding a bottle of rubbing alcohol to gas, as my car was missing every now and then. I did! And now I'm reading all these stories - I'm worried. I just filled the tank again, and added another bottle, 12 oz's. I drive a JXi siebring 6 cylinder (2.5L). Hope nothings harmed.

It would be better to purchase the fuel dry found in auto parts stores. Your engine may not be able to withstand too much alcohol without doing some damage to the rubber parts that contact the fuel system.

good luck.
