Jimmy Carter because:
He helped us see the largest inflation increase since the end of WWII.
Iranian militants stormed the US embassy in Theran and took seventy hostages. The mission to rescue them failed.
He boycotted the Summer Olympics.
He is personally responsible for the great trade market that we now have with China. This is because of cheap labor and cheap goods there, and we are still paying for it in the versions of lead paint in our toys, tainted dog food, etc.
He gave away the Panama Canal.
He won the nobel peace prize for nothing.
Gas prices then (in the seventies) were nearly two dollars a gallon.
Tax increases were through the roof.

Not sure.
My best answer is Andrew Harding.
He is quoted as saying "I am not fit for this office and should not have been here." I don't think this was being humble either.
It is reported that he spent more time playing poker and catering to his mistress than attending to office, while his "friends" were dipping into gvt funds.
Wish I could be more specific. Sounds like he was neither cold or hot, just apathy.
Are the Bushwackers considering history did not start and end with George?

Bush because he ignored terrorism which in essence compromised our national security.....resulting in 911!
I have asked here many times what did Bush do to help protect America after the 8/6/2001 CIA briefing...... have yet to get an honest answer from ANY Bush supporter!
Also consider the fact the the FBI had the 20th hijacker in custody for weeks before the attack without preventing it.
I have also asked why did FBIHQ deny FISA warrants requested by the office who arrested him.......again no honest answer why!

Buchanan Country Split apart, Clinton for ending ten years of economic growth.
A honest man would have read the 8/6/01 Presidential Daily Briefing before making comments about what was in it.

I agree w/all of the above, minus Bush and Ford. I add LBJ.
1 - Escalation of the Vietnam war
2 - The Great Society, better known as the Great Failure. We're still tangled up in the welfare mess he instigated.

Probably a toss-up between Jimmy Carter, and Gerald Ford. Both were mostly ineffectual, 1-term presidents. Neither accomplished anything great during their tenure. Both had embarrassing moments, from Ford's proclivity to fall, and Carter's to have embarrassing family incidents.

Barring a cataclysmic event on the order of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, after which the public might rally around the White House once again, there seems to be little the administration can do to avoid being ranked on the lowest tier of U.S. presidents. And that may be the best-case scenario. Bush, in fact, will be remembered as the very worst president in all of American history.
