Although I won't recommend jumping from a cold start directly onto the freeway, your car is ready to drive as soon as the oil pressure is up to normal operating range. Letting the car sit and run until it is warm just wastes fuel. It will actually warm up faster while driving.

The only time my car sits while running is when I have to remove frost or snow from the windows before I can pull out of my driveway. In that case, I'll start the car and switch on the defrosters, then get out and clean the glass.

Yes, Allowing your car to warm up is the best thing you could do. It lets the engine oil lubricate your engine, and will make your car last a lot longer. Your car is just like a human body, And you would never start a race without stretching.

Gas mileage will increase, and engine performance will be a whole lot better.

Hey Audi11, This is what I do know papa. Any car needs at least 5mins. to warm up so everything can work properly. All that oil needs to circulate all over so your whole engine can get lubed. Imagine if not, then all you are doing to your car is grinding metal with metal. That's were the oil comes in to lube the engine and you won't have that risk of metal with metal. In the winter time of course it also lets your car warm up inside too. If you don't, you are just forcing your car and you will waste gas. You will also spend more money fixing any parts of the engine itself. 5mins. won't hurt you right?

yes you do get better gas mileage when the car is warmed up and you get less friction because oil pressure is up and the lubricant is already pumped around the engine

conclusion: let your car warm up it is best for everything

That is true. Your engine is running at peak efficiency when it is at its normal running temperature. Plus, running your car for a few minutes before you leave also reduces wear on the engine because it allows the oil, coolant, etc. to circulate and lubricate everything before the engine has to start working.

start it up and when all the idiot lights on the dash go out it's time to rock and roll, these newer cars don't need warmed up and if you do all your doing is wasting gas.

I believe that is true. At least I've heard that before.
