Last year and this year we have an artificial tree. We usually "topped" a tree from our land or bought them with the roots to replant, but we moved (which is part of an Army life) and we just don't like the thought of killing trees just to put them up for a month and we now have nowhere to plant them, so we went artificial.

When i was a kid, it was all about real trees. Well... now im older and poor, so the idea of buying a tree ONCE and getting many years out of it is kinda cool.

We decorated it today, and i found an additional perk: If the balls bump into another branch, you can just bend the other branch out the way! Now i have a pretty tree.

Fake, I hate the mess of a real tree, and I can leave the fake one up as long as I want.

I have a fake but I do love real trees, just for their smell.

However, the sap and amount of work that goes into maintaining a real tree talks me out of getting on every year.

each year once I take down my authentic tree, I promise to get a faux one for the subsequent year. yet each year while it comes time, I insist on a real one. I certainly have in no way, in fifty one Christmases, had a faux tree (including while i replaced right into slightly one). there is purely something relating to the smell, and that i think it would not be Christmas without the pine-sap dermis bumps, attempting to precise a leaning tree, the trimming of uneven branches, the scraping of the great call on the ceiling and of direction the needles caught in our socks.

I usually buy a live tree from a nursery. Sometimes I buy a cut tree. I'd NEVER buy a fake tree - ugh.

Fake for the last 4yrs.
I save money that way and it save me the worries about tree catching on fire.
We love it because ours comes with lights so it makes it that much easier.

I head that for every tree cut they need to plant 4 tress. (don't quote me though)

I have a small real tree that gets trown in the lake for the fish to breed. So I think it's pretty nice.
