The Footscray Football Club, now trading as the Western Bulldogs have won 10 premierships. They won 9 in the VFA before joining the VFL in 1925. They then won another in 1954.

Thx for pointing this out, because I hadnt stopped to think about how many different teams had won a premiership during this time! Im gonna take a stab in the dark and go for Richmond, for no apparent reason, just because I like them. My son says 'Fremantle' cos hes sorry for them having never anything significant! A little extra useless information for you; St Kilda and Melbourne have both at least played in a grandfinal since 1990, so in fact there are only 3 teams that have not made the grandfinal since the beginning of the AFL as we know it.

Afl Trivia

your right mate they are the same team, they just changed it from footscray bulldogs,to western bulldogs for marketing reasons because the west of Melbourne has really grown outwards and they wanted to represent everyone from the west-and it was a ploy which has payed off in terms of their survival in the AFL,especially when it wasn't that long ago they were rattling tins to stay alive, they are still at the western oval and are definately the same team-and to answer the question its 1 day flag in 1954-with charlie Sutton as captain.

p.s not sure if they've picked up any worthless night granny's

It would be 1 as the western bulldogs and foostcray are the same club so are the kangaroos and north melbourne as are sydney and south melbourne even though they moved renaming a club means nothing to their premiership count

Sneaky question. The answer would have to be zero.
Of course everybody in the footy world knows that Teddy and boys won when called Footscray in 1954, lost to Hawthorn in 1961, their only two Grand Final appearances.
