Why is everyone saying the world will end in 2012? I'm guessing that its just another conspiracy theory and a marketing tool.

The ancient Mayan's predicted that the world would end on December 21, 2012. It is rumored to be when the poles will reverse once again and thus lead to massive climate change or some other global cataclysmic event that virtually wipes humanity from the planet.

I don't really understand where all the fear is coming from. The Mayans Calendar, which is not predicting the end of the world in 2012, but the start of a new era on December 21st, 2012. The year 2012 marks the end of the "Great Cycle." When it came to mathematics, time and calendars, the Maya were geniuses. Believing that time repeated itself in cycles.

Why do the Americans prefer to live in fear 24/7? Didn't we already go thru this "the world is coming to an end in 2000?"

The Mayan calendar suddenly ends on Dec 21, 2012 for no apparent reason. It is considered an extremely accurate calendar. The end of the world assumption can be interpreted to mean, end of an age. The world as we know it, with its greed, intolerance, and inhumanity, will come to an end. I hope this is the case and not one of say an asteroid collision.

You commonly here that the world will end on that date, but if you do research, then we are suppose to have a revolution of consciousness. An awakening. Some may say it has something to do with Christ returning, whether in flesh or spirit. I have a theory that something that the church has hidden from us will be revealed. The truth.

Who knows.
