Louisiana Creole refers to people of any ancestry or mixture thereof who are descended from settlers in colonial French Louisiana before it became part of the United States in 1803 with the Louisiana Purchase, or to the culture and Creole cuisine typical of these people.
however, the majority are of mixed Native American, Spanish and French, and African American ancestry. There are also creoles who have a Puerto Rican, Cuban, Dominican and Mexican descent also. It is therefore not odd, either, to find a Louisianian that carry Spanish or French features, even some with African features, carrying the family name Romero, Hernández or Rodríguez who can find their roots in Haiti and Mexico, as well as France and Spain

Since you are not directly sure of your nationality (the country or countries that best represents your heritage) if I were you I would just assume that I am a Creole American person but this is only if both your parents are Creole.

Technically a creole is basically a person who has a multi-cultural ancestry although most of them are MOSTLY black, spanish and some french (sometimes indian). Oddly enough most African Americans also have mixed ancestral culture. If you look it up on wikepedia it mentions how someone who has black in them was considered black, period. It also mentions that some blacks nearly half of them have Native American and European ancestry.

Btw, most Creole people tend to look like Black people with lighter skin. Many Creole people I know consider themselves black even though they have slightly different features.

No you can't just say you are Mexican. Just say you are Creole since you are from Louisiana.

First of all creole is a culture of African American so you cant be "mixed" with creole, its akin to saying your "mixed" with hip-hop. Nor can you be "mixed" with African American because just about every african American is mixed with Native American and some Anglo admixture, we just decided to call ourselves BLACK for short.

But hey everybody else seems to be making up whatever they want these days..Why not you?

exactly..anyone can be creole...but most commonly in the usa it refers to la creoles. i am la creole...JP rep it baby!

all creole means "mix" or more literally "home-grown". also, cajun and creole ARE NOT the same thing...lol we have our differences...yea creole is french, indian, black, and some spanish ofr others....but this refers to the la creoles.

if you are mexican and black id say you were just mixed...i think its only appropriate to say you are crelo if you have family roots from la and have tha mix...their arent many pure creoles anymore...its way back in the blood line. my grandmere is full creole, my grandpere 1/4.

like if you were french, black and indian, you still wouldnt be la creole b/c you need to have a connection to those ppl..(back from colonial days). crreole is a culture, language, way of life ya know...im not to sure if you would be considered creole...
