Yes, during breeding season there can be some fighting amongst males for mates. A fight is most likely to break out when one male invades another pairs territory. The resident male will fight or chase the intruder out.

I have seen many fights between male house sparrows and a few between the males of other sparrows.

By nature they are not fighters. They fly in small groups and have to live like that. When it comes to dominating over others they express annoyance rather than pick a real fight.
