My wife is currently choking on a peanut. I have told her time and time again to eat them one at a time. Does she listen? Of course not - she'll just carry on shovelling them in at a rate of knots without a care in the world. Then again, I don't expect her to take much notice of my advise. She didn't listen when I told her not to dye her hair or invest in a Canary Islands time share. Even though both decisions turned out badly (time share options are never as favourable as the advertising would suggest and there is no sound regulatory body set in place to govern them), she failed to acknowledge my correct viewpoint on both counts. Anyway, that's by the by, what's the best method to stop choking?

You don't sound very supportive of her. Even if she's making decisions you don't agree with, it's within her right to make decisions for herself. I think that financial and family decisions should be discussed between husband and wife, but still she does have her own brain and is allowed to use it! Having said that, go do the Heimlich manoeuvre on her so she stops chocking.

There's a pretty good chance that the poor woman will be dead by now, as you posted this question earlier on tonight and i'm just getting round to replying. Us women will take no notice of what you tell us, so just let her enjoy the peanuts (if she's not already dead that is) and revel in your satisfaction of "I told you so....."

Dang, it's been over 5 minutes! She's history! Oh well, grab her from behind (no get your hands off those) lock your hands together at her sternum, give short forceful squeezes, continuing to use more and more force until you worry she may break a rib. If it doesn't work get call an ambulance, they have a better history than you at home remedies!

Heimlich manoever but encourage them to cough if they can usually a person can bring it up on there own. Really though
