I need to know what insects are edible in the orlando or sebastion shores area? Any plant and mushroom information would be cool too. My friend and I are going camping and we're living off the land when we go, We're packing no food and we're getting dropped off and we're leaving our cell phones behind, so we won't get a ride home until the appointed time.

Have you had any survival training? I'm not just talking watching the guys on tv either. As a well trained, former special ops Marine, I am telling you this is not a good idea. Be very careful and best of luck. I live in South Florida, I hope I don't read about you in the papers.

I would try Google-ing edible wildlife in Florida.

As for what you plan to do, I personally think it is absolutely stupid, and I hope you don't get hurt. You are obviously not professionals because you aren't familiar with edible plants and insects, so you could possibly kill yourselves by eating something toxic or die from exposure.

Other than that, good luck.

ewww! are u serious.
u better watch Survivorman on tv. He got dropped off in the everglades and can give you some GREAT tips. please watch out for gators.

I remember seeing him eat a snake (in the desert tho).
he cut the head off to kll him, and you know, took his skin off and cooked the fleshy part. It was a poisonous snake too.

well good luck and be careful. definitely watch that episode if u find it on the internet or they happen to play a re-run.

if u find a birds nest you can eat the eggs (he ate them raw.. WITH the shell and cooked. the shell had some nutritional value i forgot what. I'm serious im not joking. also it was so hot outside that he cracked the egg on a rock and it cooked itself. Also for water, you do know that florida has natural springs right, with pure water, non-salty. that can be your water source. And gators hang out near/in water too so please be careful. do some research before you go dont just go out there and expect to survive off food. u need to know your predators and your environment and surrounding

Grass hoppers are always good, as are bees & wasps, grubs from rotten trees and red worms. Just make sure the bees and wasps are dead first. A sting in the mouth can be very, very painful.
