Why does everyone liberal and conservative alike, love ron paul. Does anyone even know about him. He is for one not a libertarian, he's a conservative. He doesn't support abortion, gay marriage, or stem-cell, but more importantly (and might I add in distinct contrast with libertarian philosophy), thinks they should be illegal, (does anyone else already hear the footsteps of the feds. at your door). Secondly, his fiscal policy is, in my oppinion, nuts. We get it Ron, Capitalism Works, but so does stricter environmental regulations on oil companies, and more socialized healthcare services. Ron Paul, isn't right for America. You may think that his viewpoints are the same as those of our founding fathers but they're not. And even if they were, times have changed. And on more question? Why is it that whenever a Republican or Libertarina says Governent sucks, everyone applauds. But when a moderate, or liberal, or independent, says that gov. sucks, but that it can be good. Everyone boos?

Under Ron Paul, no Feds would be knocking at any doors, because Ron Paul has clearly stated on the controversial issues of the war on drugs, gay marriage, abortion, etc. that he is ideologically against them. However,it is your state and local government's decision as to whether these things are legal, illegal or otherwise. Thus disbanding an era of Neo-McCarthyism that we have grown accustomed to since the passing of the Patriot Act and other truly invasive legislations at the federal level. He stands behind the idea that issues this sensitive to communities must be decided by the communities and not by bureaucrats hundreds of miles away.As for capitalism and environmental regulations,if you want cleaner energy, then stop buying dirty energy and demand alternatives from energy providers. If enough people do this, then the market will have to change and as you put it,"Capitolism works."

You obvious have a bone to pick with Ron Paul so I wonder why you posted the question, your mind seems to already be made up. Just wondering what you are looking for.
What difference does it make if a liberal, independent or moderate say this or that or the reaction is this or that. The point is that there is no other candidate that has the guts to speak about real issues that most people don't want to hear - 1) that our foreign policies are destroying our nation 2) that our government has become too over reaching (and I am putting it mild) 3) That we need to resolve more domestic issues 4) We need to stop funding governments who don't really need our financial support. Governments like Israel who are abusing their power and really don't need our military support........5) get rid of the Fed. Reserve system (Please do your research first before saying this is a over the top idea. Learn the history of how foreign banks are controlling us) I don't see what is so nuts about doing away with anything that has been weighing us down (I only hope that he has a concrete program instead of just saying lets get rid of this or that) If people just took the time to read some of his papers, review his voting records, hear some of what he has said in speeches....you would respect the man. Most just can't get out of that left/right mentality and keep an open mind. Perhaps if more people were open minded about Dr. Paul, they would see what others have already seen-he is different, he is unique and we need someone who will not carry on Bushes failed policies. It doesn't matter what political party he represents, America is sinking and we need a life guard to save us from drowning.

Excuse Me? First of all, he doesn't think gay marriage should be illegal. As a congressman he voted AGIANST a federal amendment to make gay marriage illegal. He thinks the government should stay out of our personal lives, and you will most definitely not hear the Feds knocking on your door if he becomes president. Liberty is his main message. His deregulation of American research companies would allow them to do stem-cell research, unlike the bush Aministration. Another reason he is so popular is that is extremely knowledgeable in monetary policy. All the economist agree that we may enter a recession or even a full blown depression in the coming year. This is due to a failed policy by the Federal Reserve, and to printing of US dollars without anything to support them. Ron Paul would change all this. Our dollar would regain its value, our economy would prosper and our liberty would prevail. Vote Ron Paul!!

You're missing the point when you put the question in terms of "liberal" vs. "conservative", like the right vs. left model it muddies the question. It may be instructive to look at Ron Paul (or any other candidate) in terms of where they would put us on a liberty vs. slavery scale. With 100% Liberty you have total control of your life with no government encumbrances interfering with your life at all and with 100% slavery your life is under 100% control by your master (in the context we're talking about here your master would be the government). So now if we look at these "liberals" and "conservatives" who "paradoxically" love Ron Paul we realize that these two "groups" have different lifestyles that they want to lead unfettered by government. Ron Paul wants to protect those rights whether or not he actually agrees (or even find distasteful in many instances). Ron Paul attracts both liberas and conservatives not only because of his long consistent track record but also because of the brilliant clarity in which he frames the issues. Take the income tax for instance. The way the income tax laws work, according to Ron Paul, is that the government "owns" the fruit of your labor, therefore it is the government which chooses how much of it you get to keep. Now go look at your 1040 tax instructions and surely you'll find in it somewhere that this income tax is voluntary. My question is who is correct? Ron Paul or the Government? If you answered government you missed it so go to jail and do not pass GO.
Now that we know that Ron Paul is correct here it is instructive to learn that he will work to cut government spending to the point where we won't need an income tax. Then he will work to abolish it and replace it with NOTHING.
On this example here where does that move us on the freedom vs. slavery scale? Now, go back pick another issue and analyze it again. Compare this to what the other candidates will do. Do you want to be more of a slave? Do you want to be more free? Decide now. I know what I want, now choose what you want. That's what this election is all about.

You need to do research before you trash someone like that. He doesn't think the gov should pay with our money to fund abortion, stem cell research. He thinks the states should decide the legality of abortion. He is not for making them illegal thats just a flat out lie. He more of a libetarian then a republican. The Libertarian party says if Ron Paul wins the nomination they will not run for pres in 08. But thats because he is not a libertarian right? Get your facts striaghtt before you spout of lies and garbage you sound like a brainwashed yuppie.

People like Ron Paul because he gives power to the people! Where did you get your information about him from? It is highly inaccurate. Go here : http://www.ronpaul2008.com/. Why do you think his fiscal policy is nuts? Have you ever taken an economics class? You have been brainwashed with these socialist health care ideas...it will NOT work..not in the USA. Ron Paul believes in the goverment, but he also believes that it should be limited. I mean, look what happens when they are given too much power! Maybe everyone boos when liberals say that the goverment sucks, because they want to give it a lot of power (such as raising taxes, social justice police, etc) and STILL complain about it.

Ron Paul is not anti-abortion - he just wants this issue to be decided by individual states. Federal Government has no business mandating it nationally. I have no problem with some states whose population is deeply religious being pro-life, while other states being pro-choice. When things are decided locally, they better reflect the will of people.
Ron Paul also states that - just like individual people - our Government should spend within its means. Socialized medicine or tough environmental laws are great but someone has to pay the bill. He is just being practical. Sadly, what we see is that Government overspends and then has to inflate the money to make ends meet. But inflation means that the value of money deteriorates for all of us - and so it is a way to tax people indirectly.

Who are you to say that Ron Paul isn't a libertarian? You completely misunderstood Ron Paul's position on issues such as abortion, stem cells, gay marriage etc. Ron Paul wants to leave issues not specified by the Constitution up to individual states to decide. That way liberal states can have their medical marijuana and gay marriage while the conservative ones can ban abortions. Personally I disagree with this approach but I don't think its fair how you maligned him.

Ron Paul is the most refreshing voice to come along in this race. He is certainly the underdog but it is not a wonder everybody is giving money to him. Last week he raised 6 million bucks.
Everything he says makes first class sense. Obama claims to be the voice of change. And I was for most of that but after seeing Ron Paul on Meet the Press today, I was moved to write the Ron Paul campaign a donation.
Let's hope he can go all the way.

He may think abortion, gay marriage etc should be illegal but you are missing the point entirely. Just because these are his values, doesn't mean the rest of America needs to abide by them. He believes these issues should be left up to the state and NOT the federal government. That in itself is a revolutionary idea that everyone is latching on to.
How do you say his views are not that of our founding fathers? Where do they vastly differ?
He is good for America because his policies are those of which made America the greatest nation to begin with. Besides, how can you complain and vote against getting rid of the income tax?
