I would choose educating a mind over caring for the ill. There is stress involved with all aspects of life, it's all about balance.

There is a huge demand for both, but more for nurses.
Nursing and teaching are both stressful. Nurses must deal with sick and dying people, including children. Very hard, very stressful. 12 hour shifts are the norm, but usually only 3 or 4 days a week.
Teachers get little respect, from anyone really, poor pay, and work more hours. Just because someone is in the classroom for 35 hrs a week, does not mean that the jobs ends there. Most teachers work 12 hr days. Many work at least 6 days out of the week, and a lot work 7 days a week. Those "vacations" are usually only time away from students. Dont forget that someone must teach summer school. Lots of teachers take college courses during the summer, or work a summer job to supplement their pay. Many work a second job all year long.
Both jobs require a dedicated person, who really wants to be there. I left teaching in 1994, disgusted with the system, and went to the "real world" to work. I found it not much better, and I missed making a difference in young lives. I returned to education seven years ago. It is still hard as hell, but if just ONE kid tells me that I made a difference in their life, then I can keep doing it.

There's always stress involved in all professions or any job, for that matter. Being a nurse or a teacher are both noble jobs but I'd rather be a nurse than a teacher.

To answer your question, teacher. (Because that is what I chose to do) Teaching and Nursing are both high stress jobs. There are different types of stress.
Nurses especially if they work in the ER have to make quick life or death decisions.
Teaching is a different type of stress. Teachers love doing what they do ..teaching.. or should.. if not.. they need to change professions... But the paperwork is what can drive you nuts as a teacher. You have to document everything... There are parents that think their child does not wrong. There are students that think even if they do no work that you should pass them. There are principals and county board members who just happen to pop in when you are reviewing with a wild game.. and think that they can do a better job with 30 plus teenagers.
But then there are the days when you get a card in the mail from a student that graduated or moved-- in that card they tell you that you taught them much more than chemistry or whatever it is you teach.... it makes every bit of stress that you ever went through worth it.
There are the students that have nobody to love them except for you... When you see them graduate and they say thanks to you... it is all worth it... when they look at you with tears and tell you that it is because of you... all of the stress is just background noise.
The saying "to teach is to touch lives forever" is true. I wouldn't be happier doing anything else. It is almost like preaching, it is a calling and you have to decide that teaching is what you want to do.. it is not about the money....because teacher pay is not great...
If I have helped only one student in my years of teaching.. it will be worth all of the stress.
I still remember the teachers who made a difference in my life.. I bet you do too.
Summers are great, most people think teachers are not working, but most are going to workshops, or doing some type of professional development to better ourselves as teachers.
Good Luck with your decison, just choose a career that will make you happy.

Stress? Oh yes!! I have a lot of friends that are teachers and they do it to make a difference, not for the money or the lack of stress. Children and teens can be very challenging!!

SCHOOL NURSE! You get the same vacation days as the teachers, but you don't deal with them getting on your nerves everyday in the classroom. The school nurses deal with teh same annoying kids that think they're always sick but just let them lay down for a few and give them some water. Plus you get to help the ones who are in need. It's the best of both worlds.

theres lots of stress in both areas, teacher-> you specify in one thing but you have to grade papers, have little benefits, and have little close to no social life.
Nurse-> you have to know a lot about medicine, but the stress you have involved is if you mess up a person can die.
so they are both hard, just depends which job you like more
