why would they? I think Rodger knew that he was going to be limited as long as Favre was playing at least decent. Plus, he looked pretty good vs Dallas a couple of weeks ago so I don't think that he was a waste. He knew what he was coming into or he wouldn't have signed with them.

Not at all. Over the past few seasons it has always been a question mark as to whether Favre was going to return. The Packers were only thinking of the future. And what happens if Favre gets hurt and cannot return.

We're talking down the road here. Favre came back because of the records he could break. The fact the Packers are having an outstanding season is a bonus. At the very least Favre can retire after this season as a winner.

From a personal perspective I would really like to see the Packers in the Super Bowl and win it! I'm frankly getting sick of hearing how great the Patriots are.

There are no apologies needed from the Packers organization or from Favre. You need to have depth in case something was to happen to your starter. Favre is playing great ball, so why should he retire, because some on this site say he should? Maybe we should decide when each other should retire? Really, it's Bretts decision, and im sure it will be hard to walk away from a job that you love as much as he does. I feel the media are the ones responsible for pressuring Favre for an answer about retirement, i dont ever recall him bringing this issue to the table. To golfer boy up on the top, THE PACKERS SUCK? DO YOU EVEN WATCH FOOTBALL? IF YOU DO, YOUR NOT A VERY HONEST PERSON, THE PACK ARE PLAYING VERY WELL THIS YEAR. I HAVE TO ASSUME THE TEAM YOU ARE A FAN OF WERE PROBABLY OWNED BY FAVRE AND THE REST OF THE TEAM FOR YEARS...SUCK IT UP. GO PACK

Why would they? First of all I am a true Pack fan and love the team. Favre, who I also love, has been talking retirement for many years and I think the management was being realisitc in that if he left, they needed someone to remold the team with. I like Rodgers, first he is a good player, and he is learning from one of the best QB's of all time. He seems good enough and will evolve to be even better. I think we as fans have not seen him much, I mean he is the understudy for one of the most durable men in the game so I think he will suprise us when he eventually takes over.

No, they had a guy that was projected to be a top 3 pick. When that happens and he falls to you with the 24th pick you snatch him up. Besides Green Bay maybe wouldn't have drafted a qb if Favre was sure he wasn't going to retire. Besides Rodgers will be someone elses starting QB in a year or two. Brunell, Aaron Brooks, Matt Hasslebeck were all Favre backups.

Or should Favre formally apologize to the Packers for not informing the team that he was coming back and they had to a waist a first rounder on a bench player.

I think Brett Favre should apologize to Aaron Rogers. A first round QB draft pick riding the bench for at least three years? Aaron Rogers is the one who deserves an apology.

NO A TEAM always has to be looking for the best in its future...FARVE at the time was struggling...this year he is in a rebirth, maybe the last hurrah....RODGERS will be a free agent and will sign elsewhere and this year the Packers will draft another heir apparent.

Yet ANOTHER question opportunity for the Pack/Favre hate mob to vent!!!!!!!!!!!

And no, they shouldn't apologise. That would have been like asking the Niners to formally apologise to Joe Montana for bringing in Steve Young!!!!!!!!!!!

As a GM, you do what you think is right at the time...
