The second answer covered must of what I would have said. In addition to his suggestions, I have found most merchants will accept DEBIT card payments. Even if the say they won't, the usually can't tell a debit card from a credit card unless you TELL them.

You can use a DEBIT card. It is basically a card with a Visa, Mastercard, or whatever logo that, when used, draws money directly from your checking out. You can use that in lieu of a credit card at any time. When you sign for purchases (by using "credit" instead of "debit"), you get the same 0% liability protection as you would with any credit card (or at least Visa).

Buy a pre-paid credit card and refill accordingly works just like a credit card without the hassles for about 10 bucks at a currency exchange.

You don't say what you are renewing, but you should be able to pay any bill with a check, a money order, or cash. You should use cash only if you are paying in person, not by mail.
