say sorry if you really mean it & if you think that you may have done something wrong. If I were you, I would not apologize for something just for being the better person, if you strongly believe that it is the other person's fault- but that is me (probably try to make him see why you may be right.. talk it out)

Well, it would help if you weren't using your apology to win points in some sort of obscure game of one-upsmanship.

Just say that you're sorry about whatever it is that you're sorry about. And then FORGET IT, get on with your lives. And stop keeping score. PS: An apology does not occur when you say, "I'm sorry you're such an idiot." :-)

Just say you're sorry, if you actually are sorry. If not your the smaller person in this situation.

just say you're sorry and that you totally realize what you did wrong, and tell him why you are sorry, and what you will do next time from acting up again
