And I always ask my mom or dad a million times if we leave the house stuff like "did u turn the oven off" because I odnt want it to catch on fire. I know I sound completely dumb but I cant help it. I have been like this for like 4 years now and I cant stop it. Oh and theres more. I go around almost every night when I go to bed and makes sure all the lights are off. ANd theres more but its to stupid to explain. Just please help me out. I dont want to worry my whole life. I am only in 7th grade. Please

I am embarassed to tell my parents.

But there is some more and I cant explain everything but ok I like to get my Hot Wheels cars out a lot but everytime I am done with them I wash my hands like a million times to make sure I didnt get lead on them I am not saying they have lead on them but I want to be safe. Also I like everything to be spotless. Like In my room If something isnt in a perfect spot I fix it right away or it worries me a lot. Also when I plug my laptop back in after I take it into another room I make sure none of the plugs got any dust in them before I plug them back in. And we got a GPS for my mom and I always make sure it gets no dust or water on it. And I used to have a cell phone and I was always afraid I was going tobreak it so I never took in in rain storms so it wouldnt get wet and I barely took it anywhere because I didnt want it to get broke. My dad has a lot of them same symptoms I do but he doesnt worry about like the light switches and stuff. He

You realize your fears are silly and that is great. Before you go off to the doctor and get on those mind bending drugs, I wish you will change your diet for a few months. I am betting that you will do better with a good diet than those drugs. I have a real attitude about kids on drugs, if you haven't figured that out yet, lol. EAT GOOD FOOD! Plenty of colorful veggies and salads, good meat. Stop eating processed junk, processed meats, breads made with bleached flour and no more extra sugar. If you want sweet eat an apple. Your condition is very serious, but at least you realize it is wrong and want to help yourself. Please don't start with the doctors till you try this a few months.

well, it sounds like you have a problem that you might need to talk to some one about. I am not able to tell you what you what it is but i know a little about what you described. what I can tell you is every thing will be OK. Mostly when you check to see if every thing is OK is it? Keep mental notes like the house didn't burn down last time and try not to worry so much. what you really need is confidence. You can do this, you have to do this, if you don't you'll have gray hair before high school. Tell your parents you want to see someone or go to your guidance counselor at school. Don't waste any more time with this and also think about thanksgiving when your mom cooks the turkey, it takes like 6-8 hours most ovens can operate longer then that. The light thing, I really don't see anything wrong with that. Save your parents some money on the electric bill. I try to turn all the lights too. gl

Have you ever turned on A&E and seen a show about 'Obsessive Compulsive Disorder'? I don't mean to scare you but people with disorder always obsess about things that don't even matter. Like just what you described in your long question. They worry about the stove being left on, or the door being unlocked, and they have a thing for germs. I once saw a woman that used to wash her hands over 100 times a day because she was so scared of germs.
And no joke -- it really is a serious thing. But I'm glad that you were able to write about it on here and ask about it...maybe you should look into this disorder more, and talk to your parents because it doesn't matter what age you are.
Hey -- don't worry, you're not the only one. I've heard that Howie Mandell, the host from Deal Or No Deal, has some germ phobia too -- he never shakes peoples hands...you're not alone...but really, look into it.
Best of luck to you and I hope you are fine. You have a long life ahead of you.

aaww u seem like such a nice boy.im in 7th grade too and im a girl. first stop worrying because 1% of what you worry about is ever going to come true. try to relax and think everything is going to be ok.try do some yoga if it helps u or talk to your mum or dad and ask them to help you. always think positive.it sometimes happenes to me when i leave the house i think o god did i lock the door? but then i try to think back to what i've done and say to myself o well if it happens it happens, destiny . and about the school stuff. i am pretty much the same. im a very nice person and sometimes people think that then can push me around. also try to do kickboxing because it really helps u even if you know you will never beat up somebody.you then think that you can stand up for yourself and beat them up if they try to do something to u. i am doing kickboxing right now and it helps me. i stand up for myself more. i dont let them to push me around etc. and dont do anything they ask you to do because then they will think that u r weak and that u will never stand up for yourself and thats an advantage for them. i know it hard and if they bully you with words dont mind them. think that whats important is that u r healthy and alive and they cant harm u. i hope all this helps. if u want add me as a friend and we can talk more and if u need any more advice im more than glad to help u. good luck!

it sounds like you are experiencing symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder or obsessive compulsive personality disorder because of your obsessions of constontly checking the light switches, and as for the washing your hands alot, that would make it a personality disorder. do you find yourself doing things in a certain order, or doing things because it feels like something bad is going to happen if you don't do what you were going to do.
I advise you to seek psychological help.
also do research on it, look for some ways to help you break away from those habits.

Well it sounds like a small form of OCD. Everyone has some form of it like worrying about certain things more then others. But since youre so young it may develop into full blown OCD. I wouldnt worry. But if you see it really bothers you then see someone about it. And as for being a pushover, i am also reallt nice to people. Theres a big difference tho. Be nice to people, you are just a nice person but if they are mean to you stick up for yourself. Or it will get worse. I mean dont be like,"Yo ill kick you f*** A**!" But just give them a dirty look and say the same thing that they say to you back Like if they say your a nred say YOURE a nerd.

You won't worry your whole life. I have an answer for you, but you're not really ready to hear it yet. But you conquer your fears by taking baby steps as you confront them one by one. Soon enough there isn't anything left to worry about. Does this mean you'll live your life without fear from that point on? Nope...courage isn't an absence of fear, but fear management. But you can train yourself to respond in ways that are in your best interest, and it's not particularly hard to do. So, what do you want to tackle first?

It sounds like you may have a condition called Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Your symptoms fit it.

Speak to your parents or school counsellor. There is cognitive treatment that can help you. Maybe even medication.

You have some anxiety problems. I understand, because I do too. I'm not a doctor, but it sounds like obsessive compulsive disorder and probably generalized anxiety disorder as well. Ask your folks to take you to a counselor or doctor.
