Do you use a letter opener across the top, do you tear down the side of the envelope, or just rip it open to shreds?

At home, letter opener across the top. Elsewhere, inserted finger across the top.

I run my finger along the top and tear it. Usually some of the back tears. Even if it opens neatly, I shred the envelop afterwards to discard.

Tear down the side and rip across the top.

I open it at the side of the letter if I kow I wont rip anything if I will rip something then I open it were you lick it

I tear a little piece of corner, then use my finger as a paper knife. To tear whole area open. Merry Christmas, And have a happy new year. Take care.

I used to use a razor kind of ripper to cut one edge and slide it out neatly. Now I just poke a finger in near the edge of the flap and rip it away.
