In these three areas -- religion, wealth and power -- Liberals show us that their aim is to reduce us all to the lowest common denominator. Many years ago, I read Kurt Vonnegut's 1961 short story, "Harrison Bergeron." The story took place in a future time in which, as the story begins, "everybody was finally equal." Those deemed too intelligent were fitted with devices to interrupt their thoughts. Those thought too graceful or strong were forced to wear weights to slow them down. The faces of those who were too beautiful disappeared behind masks. No greater horror could await mankind than a world in which everyone is reduced to the lowest common denominator instead of being encouraged to be the absolute best they can be. Yet that, it turns out, is precisely what Liberals want.

Bogeymen! Liberals! ACLU! Oh my! Give me a break.

I know of no single person who wants that world and at least half my friends are liberal.

Maybe in your alcohol-addled brain, but in the real world where people talk sense, the doctrine of liberalism is firmly embedded in the LIBERATION (get it, liberal, liberation, liberty) of the human spirit.

This is why, little fellow, liberals are criticized as "promiscuous" or "free thinkers", and why "those professors" are considered enemies of the state by people like you.

So your argument is a complete contradiction of common sense.

Vonnegut's satire was about MEDIOCRITY---of which I could think of no greater poster child than GW Bush.

We all want the same thing -- a world where every person has their basic food and health care needs met, a world where everyone is loved, a world where everyone is inspired to perform to their best ability. We just have different ideas on how to get there.

True conservatives (not those masquerading as conservatives, but who are actually fundamentalists) believe in the right of the individual to be the best they can be. Both the liberals and the fundamentalists seek to put limits on the individual, either economically or socially, that should be rejected by all those who strive for freedom of all kinds in what is supposed to be a free nation.

Not so: we want to pile the barnful of dung on top of the likes of today's neo-Cons to mask the awful stink...

"Yet that, it turns out, is precisely what Liberals want".

You've been reading too much science fiction. Or listening to too much Limbaugh, which is pretty much the same thing.
