he says when he tries to turn it on theres no power in it

This happened to me with my current computer and my last computer. It was the power supply - the part that the power cord attaches into. They run $25-$50, plus installation if you need a place to do it - it is a quick job.

If it's plugged into the wall the power supply on his computer might have an on/off button. the "o" usually means on. If that doesn't work his power supply is probably dead and he will need to get a new one, don't fret though because power supplies aren't very expensive. usually only about 20-40 dollars depending on how many watts you need it to be.

If the fan on the power supply doesn't come on, its pretty sure deal its bad. Replacement power supplies are quite easy to replace.

make sure it's plugged into a working outlet, check power supply, some have a switch on them "o" is on, then check the on-off switch, =)

his motherboard or power supply is dead. first check power supply.
