This is taken directly from Mayo Clinic;
"Normal urine color ranges from pale yellow to deep amber — the result of a pigment called urochrome. But urine color isn't always normal.
B vitamins turn urine an eye-popping neon yellow, for instance. Carrot juice can tint it orange. And porphyria, a disease that affects your skin and nervous system, earned its reputation — and its name — by turning urine the color of port wine.
Most changes in urine color are harmless and temporary — the result of certain foods, dyes, supplements or prescription drugs. Occasionally, though, unusual urine color can indicate an infection or serious illness. Talk to your doctor about changes in urine color that persist or don't seem linked to medications or food. "

It includes small amounts of bilirubin, a yellow break down product of haemoglobin. This does, indeed, involve the liver, where it is manufactured.
If you want to change the colour, just drink some food colouring.
Also, if you eat a lot of beetroot (fresh, not canned) all at once, this will colour your urine pink for a whole day, as the pigment goes thorough your body unchanged. You will also have pink/purple faeces for a few days.
Try it on your unsuspecting friends, and watch them run to the doctor when they think there is something seriously wrong with them.

I suppose it's the color you get when you mix together "waste material that is secreted by the kidney, which is rich in end products (as urea, uric acid, and creatinine) of protein metabolism together with salts and pigments, and forms a clear amber and usually slightly acid fluid."*
You know the old saying, "you may thinks it's mine but it's urine."

urobilinogen makes urine yellow, indirectly it has to do with the liver, because urobilinogen is a water soluble derivative of bile
