That is not exactly the way the phrase goes but you have the idea. Usually, if you treat people with respect, they reciprocate in the same manner. If you treat people like dirt, at some point in life when you need assistance most, is when people will ignore you. It is the good cycle , which most of us follow. Good deeds beget good deeds.
