Better chances of winning multiple lotteries than two presidents from the Bush family and possibly two from the Clinton's.

Why is this happening? Does it go back to the royal family idea from England?

Six Presidents have come from 3 families.

John Adams and John Quincy Adams.
William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison.
The Bushes.

And Franklin D. and Teddy Roosevelt were cousins.

But there have also been attempts by relatives which did not succeed. For example, William H. Taft's son, Robert, ran for President, but lost. So what?

Because power, wealth, and "old money" are still correlated. Not everyone can be a president - being a millionnaire with enough money to attract a team of advisors and campaigners and run ads on TV is a prerequisite. Bush Jr. for example ran an oil company and got enough money to run for presidency. I would be more concerned with all of the corporate CEOs and their cronies as far as dynasties go. At least with presidents you have a vote.

It is having the chance to be associated with the most powerful people and the ones that really pull the levers in this country. You are the son of a famous politician and you get to go to the right schools have business dealings with rich Arab Bin Ladens, In essence you become known to those that really control America.

The aristocracy, such as they are, have always had greater access to power than the common folks; even in a nation dedicated to egalitarianism. Related Presidents have occurred twice before (three times, with a looser definition of 'related').

Maybe indirectly it goes back to the royalty idea. But it really is because these President's are all around the political world and therefore have more "experience."

Very good question. I guess some of the insecure, lower mentality people feel some sense of comfort from continuing a dynasty. You'd think we would find people who are most qualified and not most popular or manipulative.

Because they win the elections and our Constitution says that we are a democracy and do not select our leaders at random.

I think it would kick a-s-s if we voted Clinton in to the white house, had her for two terms, and then got Jeb Bush to run for President in 2020 and then voted HIS a-s-s in for two terms!

It would be Clintons and Bushs for pretty much my entire lifetime! :D
