It all began in 1987. I was 10 years old and WWF wrestling

superstars came on saturday mornings at 10:00 AM. I never

bothered to watch before but one saturday I did I was hooked

I begged my parents to take me to matches in my home town

every month. Back then the WWF came to town every month

and would advertise on Superstars and the wrestlers would

shoot promos behind a green screen with their logos. My

favorites were Macho Man & Elizabeth, Brutus Beefcake,

Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hart, Mr. Perfect, Demolition etc.

Back then we didn't have cable so I had to rely on renting

wrestling tapes from Blockbusters. Eventually we got cable

and soon I was ordering PPV's my first was Summerslam91.

I loved wrestling back then but unfortunately most of them are

dead now. I'm older now and the WWE sucks. I'll admit I

don't know much about wrestlers these days and I honestly

don't care to know. It just doesn't appeal to me anymore.

Thank You

Wrestling, when you think about it, is not all that bad nowadays. Many people are led to believe this because they compare it to the attitude era, which i'm sure a lot of people here grew up watching. To many, the early days of wrestling set a standard that they believe is not currently being met.

That's very simple, really. There is no competition left. In the 80s, WWF was still trying to climb to the top of the wrestling world and the NWA was still huge. In the 90s, WWF had to compete with WCW and both promotions were influenced in some way by the underground promotion ECW. Both the 80s and the 90s saw WWF being forced to raise its game to the highest possible level to remain on top of the wrestling world. Nowadays, the closest thing we have to competition is TNA. It's pretty obvious, then, why wrestling in the WWE is lack-luster these days.

Though you should remember that WWE is not all of wrestling, it's one promotion.

This has a lot of truth to it, actually. But nothing you referred to occured in 2007.

I still like wrestling a lot now but it supposed to appeal to little kids and families now unlike then it was supposed to be for teens and adults. Then there was more viloence, Wrestlers didnt have to limit their moves or anything now wrestlers cant even do the moves they want

I still miss the old wrestling days a lot but I dont think its ever gonna come back to the way it was so do what I do I watch old wrestling matches all the time to bring back my fond memories

just try tna, wwe is a joke now and any half decent wrestling fan knows it, tna is the alternative. i came on his as a fustrated wwe fan as i was sick of the poor matches, and when i wtched mania 22 u had enough and began 2 watch it.

i was shocked at how different it was, the pace of the x divition and all tht. and then the best wrestler ever came to tna.....

2 the commet above, why not set the standards high? when i watch the rumble (which im not paying for), i guna compare it to the best royal rumble (2000 in my view), and if it doesnt reach that, then im guna critisise it, why shud i settle for less?

The reason is simple Without the ying you can not have the yang without a major company to push WWE they do not have to produce a as good product the fall of WCW was the greatest hit to wrestling in its history. I ask you how do you know it is good if you haven't seen bad

I AGREE WITH YOU ON THIS I GREW UP TO THE 80S AND EARLY 90S WRESTLING AND IT WAS GREAT. BACK THEN YOU COULD ACTUALLY RENT ALL THE PPV AT BLOCKBUSTER OR OTHER MOVIE RENTAL PLACES. I TRY TO FIND THEM NOW AND I CANT. I STILL WATCH IT NOW BUT ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE SAME NOW. TODAYS WRESTLING IS ALL ABOUT STORYLINES.
