Correct.
Nowadays (at the risk of using an overused phrase), everybody's a critic. All that can be spotlighted is the faults of wrestling. Also, something else that may be at fault is the fact that 20 years ago, it was more believable(aside from the old ECW). Everybody knows that you can't be in good shape after some matches that we've seen in the past few years, such as inferno matches.

I absolutely agree.
My answer to that question:
"...Knowing it wasn't scripted made wrestling more watchable.
"Back then, it was all speculation, and because people now deem it as "fake" and scripted, professional wrestling lost a lot of visual value. Even if you knew it was scripted back then, it was still good to be able to suspend whatever idea you had and just watch the show, not worrying about what is fake and what isn't. Most people back then already knew it was mostly show anyway.
"And to tell you the truth, not all old fans say that. Most people complaining are the Attitude Era fans..."

It was definately better, but saying that that made it good would be lying.
In the '80s and '90s, there was higher quality wrestling created by competition between companies. That is what mainly made wrestling "good" back then.

I grew up watching wrestling in the 80s and 90s. There was that hint of realism to the pseudo-sport we all know and love. When I watched the Freebirds and the Von Erichs brawl all over the arena...or when Savage blasted Steamboat with the timekeeper's bell in the throat...we felt like there was real hatred, real emotion there.
Vince McMahon turned it into a cartoon...when he referred to it as sports entertainment it took that realism out of it. Yes, I know for example movies, plays, etc...are scripted. But they do their job of entertaining if you suspend belief for that time you're watching the screen or the stage.

No,I'd rather be smart knowing that it's scripted, and not being stupid crying over hulk hogan being attacked by randy savage from the back or shawn michaels turning on janetty.
