My picks:
1. Costco: I like the fact that they keep a more "upscale" selection, appearance, and clientele than it's direct mass bulk product competitor, Sam's Club. Their pay and benefits for even their part-time employees appears to be the envy of the retail market, yet they still maintain competitive prices on their products. (I guess that can be explained by them opening so few stores; it makes the experience all the more worthwhile.)

2. Wal-Mart. I work here. I luckily work at a store with (mostly) nice managers and co-workers, although there are still a few sour grapes. That's anywhere, though. Still, we have some incompetent, careless dufuses. Most W-M stores are dirty, poorly laid out, and have rude managers and employees, however. Our pay and benefits are crap.

3. Sam's Club: not bad, but I don't love shopping there.

4. Target: they don't support Toys for Tots or the let The Salvation Army set up at their stores. Red flag for me!

5. K-Mart: it just exists.

By the way, Wal-Mart and K-Mart tends to attract the large white trash sector.

For example, I've never seen a pickup with a confederate flag decal at Costco. I've never seen a 1897 Pinto with "Git 'R Done" at Target.

getusedtoit: Wal-Mart at #2 is, to me, simply just the least evil of the evils.

Target all the time, everytime.

They have good taste. Their clothing is more classy, I enjoy looking around in there store more. It seems cleaner. Their employees are nicer too.

After you say: "Still, we have some incompetent, careless dufuses. Most W-M stores are dirty, poorly laid out, and have rude managers and employees, however. Our pay and benefits are crap" I have no idea why you would vote Wal Mart #2.

K-Mart i hate, Wal-mart is great for many things except for the clothing, Target is where i buy most of my little girls clothing, the thing that i like the most about Sam's is there selection of items that are brand names, Costco i hate are the long lines and just about everything in there is KIRKLAND which I'm not very happy with

I like the food vendor samples at Sam's Club. I agree Costco is nice, but since I already belong to Sam's Club, I can't see paying for two memberships. Target is near where I live so I mostly shop there. I like it that they also have grocery store--One stop shopping. Lazy me!!

Target anyway but I didn't spend a dime there this year, they still give to a lot of charities that we don't know about and the reason they say that no salvation army is that they don't want there customers bothered but i think its because they want to make sure the money is spent in the store and not outside before they come in.

K-mart, It is like Sears-lite. And less people are shopping at K-mart. More time to "browse"

Target is the only one I ever go to. All the rest suck pretty bad. I prefer to shop online and skip the lines, rude service, and rude people.
