Your question is too generalized! When you say, Asian people, are you refering to the entire continent of Asia?
Have you ever met a Russian? Most of them are very tall and huge!
But, whatever their relative sizes, their Genetic make up is responsible for that.
But that is also a function of the environment in which they originated. There is an important connection between genetics and environment.
That doesn't mean that if you moved to Asia, you will suddenly change in size.
And i am NOT saying that they necessarily originated in Asia. They might have come from elsewhere and settled there!

... and Asians probably ask how come people of European descent are hairy sweaty giants ... but more seriously SOME Asian ethnic groups do tend to be shorter however this is partly due to low protein diets rather than genetics ... proof of which is the large number of second and third generation Asian descended kids who are six inches taller than their grandparents.
Asians living closer to the tropics do tend to be shorter tho and northerners taller. The ancient Chinese commented on this. Koreans tend to be taller though!
Its a combination of genetics and diet!

Not all of them are small, but for those who are it is probably a combination of heredity and diet--both content and quantity of foods. Asian diets tend to emphasize poultry and seafood with vegetables, compared to a more meaty diet in Western cultures.
