You need to connect your scart leads as follows, top scart on sky box to DVD recorder, other to TV. To play dvd turn sky box to OF and your TV will then recognise the DVD.
OR with UHF lead from sky box into DVD box tuned for sky box UHF frequency, and from the scart lead from the DVD unit into the TV.
I have 3 TV's, 1 VHS, 1 DVD recorder 1 DVD player, I HiFi amp 1 cassette recorder, 1 CD recorder copier all linked into the same system. I can record on anything from anything and or watch and listen to anything from anything so it can be done. You just have to think about it like a puzzle. do not get caught though on poor quality scart leads, many only work one way.

Assuming you've connected the Sky box to the DVD with a scart cable into the DVDs input socket (as well as to the TV), you may have to set the DVD to its AV1 position, there will be a button on the remote for this, check the instructions. Once set, this will let you record Sky programmes and also you'll be able to see Sky channels while the TV is on the DVD setting.

You need to connect a lead from the sky box "signal output" to the dvd recorder "input". Usually the male/female lead. May also be a scart lead though.

I have to record through the scart lead to get programmes from my digi box - took me ages to work that out.

i had exactly the same prob
i had to use regular tv aerial into dvd recorder which isnt what i wanted but its just the same as video, you can tape 1,2,3,4,5 no matter what channel youre watching but anything else, your sky has to be on the channel you want to record.
i hope this makes sense to you.
when we have the digital switchover, we'll all have to buy digital recorders if we want to record anything that we're not watching.
its so complicated for an old woman!!
