There was a time when it was just R&R then there was a genre called HEAVY METAL who coined the term??? (has 3 letters in his last name)

There was a verse in the 1968 Steppenwolf song, "Born To Be Wild" that went "I like smoke and lightning, heavy metal thunder. Racin' with the wind, and the feelin' that I'm under".

John Kay, the group's founder, lead singer, and songwriter has claimed credit for the phrase (although the song is actually about the motorcycle culture).

There are several people who claim to have invented the term "heavy metal", but John Kay is the only one with 3 letters in their last name.
