It's more of a guys name...and I love it!...There are three HOT guys at my high school that are named Leighton...and yes, you have the name pronounced correctly.

It's supposed to be pronounced (lee-ton) as in Leighton Meester from Gossip Girl, dearie.

I think it sounds better as a guy name. Maybe it't the "ton" at the end that makes it sound more masculine. like Hamilton. But Leighsia or Leighja (pronounced lay-shya?) sounds more girly. I think it would be a nice boy name.
