im wondering if the money i spend on the GeForce
8800 GTS 640mb is worth it? or am i better keeping my radeon 9800 pro

Yes, nvidia graphics card are much better than radeon, if you have the chance do so, the sell your radeon 9800 and make some money out of it.

It depends on what kind of games you want to play. The 9800 pro will play most of todays games but not too well. Buy the 8800 if you want to really enjoy todays games.

9800 Pro is AGP. You can not use any PCIe card on your PC. Your possible options are:

FAST DX9 cards= Geforce 7950GT AGP or X1950 XT AGP.

DX10 but not as fast as the above= ATI HD 2600 Pro or XT AGP.

the 8800 gts is a top card, (the one i have actually) but now they've released the 8800gt and the improved gts, defiantly get one of those in the 512mb variety. and for £165 you cant grumble...except for me who paid £270 for the gts a few months ago :-(
