I know I have asked myself too.
But then I realize what's the point in sitting there trying to find out when you could just go live it!

So is there even a purpose in life at all? And if there isn't does it make a difference?

I agreed with "Of human bondage" by S.Maugham when I read it - basically,i don't think there is a purpose...so go wild and do whatever it is you prefer to:) ...and I also believe it's important not to hurt anyone else while doing the best for yourself

People want to be guided in some way and feel as though they are either in control or in some cases being controlled. There isnt a known purpose in life (though some believe there is) personally I dont think it's going to make a difference. Every life is different so there is a different purpose in each. Some people become accountants..some become surgeons..does this mean that the surgeon had a better purpose in life than the accountant?

What is the purpose of life, why do we exist, how come we are here, what are we here for?
Those are the most common questions on this site, and every time I answer it's the same, few accept it and I don't know why because frankly there is no better answer that I've ever come across.
" We are here to 'love'. We love God first and foremost and before everything and everyone. Then we are to love our neighbours as we ourselves would want to be loved.
That's why we exist, that is what our purpose is, that is why we are here.
It's so simple and very few people get it. Maybe because it is such a simple answer, maybe because they see God in the equation and are scared off by it. I don't know.
But I do know that the simplicity of the answer is not an easy thing to do. Yeah we are here to love, simple; but it is so hard to do. Try it for a year and see how hard it is to love one and all, enemy and ally, friend and foe. It is hard, but it is so worth it in the long run.

Everyone needs to have a reason to live, it doesn't really matter what that is. It's basic orientation on the path of life.
People want to find their purpose the fastest wa possible, so they can then cut that in half and keep doing that until they find their own purpose out of all the others that are all part of the purpose of life.

Very much a reason. We have a brain to think about living, about how to live, and what kind of a person we should be. If we do not think about the purpose, why hold back at all? If it feels good, do it. It is that lack of people think about the purpose of life is why they is so much rudeness and crime in our world. If you find a purpose of living, you know where to set you sights.

Yes, there is a purpose in life, and I can't tell you what it is... because I believe that EVERYONE has a different purpose. The best thing to do, as you said, is to go and figure it out by living it!

Just the fact that you're alive feels like it's a miracle, a really big thing, so it's natural to want to ask ourselves what our purpose is but yes, this is one of the things we shouldn't ponder about too much. I see the purpose of life as just living it and learning its lessons along the way.

nobody wants to live a meaningless life, we don't know why we need a purpose\meaning, but we do.

perhaps some of us have realised that there is more to life than what society and culture have defined. Perhaps some of us feel that all is not well, reality is not what it is commonly accepted to be. Something undefined within yearns for the truth, it will not live a lie!

I think therefore I am.
Ones vary ability to question the fundamental aspects of existence is the purest representation of said existence. Essentially there are two types of queries one will ponder. Those of a practical nature and those of a fundamental nature. Practicality elicit a pleasurable outcome when a hypothesis is proven. The same level of satisfaction is achievable at the point a question is formulated and responses and counter contemplative results are only a source of secondary enjoyment. Good luck and God Bless.

you have to decide how to use the life you've been given.
the purpose of your life is something you choose:
to get rich
to help others
to be high
to raise children
to be successful
to play music
to know god

there are so many things...you get to decide the purpose for your life. don't just go out and live it, you have to decide how to live it.
