Not only isn't Elias the captain of the devils anymore, hes not even assistant captain, why did they do that?

When Sutter took over he stripped all C's and A's and wanted to find the real leaders himself. He gave Elias, Zubrus, and Gionta an A to start the season. When Langenbrunner came back Sutter saw him as a leader along with Madden and Martin (that baffles me). Sutter has called Elias a quitter and apparently wanted to push him, it didn't work.

Perhaps he was only a temp for Langenbrunner. They dont give the Alternate a "C" if the Captain is injured or out. They just give out a temp C.

19 points in 33 games, and a -6, dont really look like the numbers you get from the leader of the team. Maybe his teammates, dont see him as a leader, the coaches dont like something he is doing or saying. Or, maybe they just think there is someone else, who is taking that role in the room, and they decided to reward him for it. Some people are just not captain material, and they are just better followers.

YOu need to earn a 'C' in the NHL, and Lou and Brent felt that Elias hadn't earned it.

Because he doesn't play like a captain and Sutter called him out on it. Sutter does not like his style of play. He doesn't come back and play defense which could be the reason he is a team worst -6 ( +/- rating).

well he's being payed 7 million to lead the team in scoring and the fact is he isn't giving it. he just plain blows.
