No, I dont think so, just so the child realizes how fortunate they are when others are not and is appreciative.

It depends on how much extra cash "Santa" has laying around. If this money could go to better use...say, paying the mortgage and putting food on the table...then yes, it is too much. However, if $475.00 is a drop in the bucket for Old Kris Kringle, then it would not be out of the norm. I think it also depends on the gift. Is this money for a major gift that the kid is going to get a lot of use out of? Or is this the added expenses of a bunch of little nonsense gifts that the kid does not appreciate or does not need? Wasting money on stupid, unneccessary gifts is foolish. Regardless of whether Santa has the $$ to spare or not.

No, I don't think so. Only spend what you can afford though. If that money could have gone to more improtant things like bills and stuff, then that is too much. But if you're one of the wealthier people who thinks $475 isn't much, then I guess it's okay with you.

My parents are both equally very wealthy (not bragging), and I do admit I get a lot of stuff. But here's one thing you have to let your child know that she/he is truly fortunate at getting such a gift. Let her know other might've gotten gifts for much less, or not even at all. We don't want them to grow up to be rotten and ungrateful, do we now? I've learned to that I am most lucky and am very grateful, and I do give in turn or recieving.

So it's not too much.

Have a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!!!

No it is not! The price of things are out rages. A video game system, and one or two games can add up fast. Clothing at the malls, that is about 6 outfits. It depends on your taste and style of living. Name brand/no brand. It is a electronic age. And they get us coming and going.

Merry Christmas!!

not entirely. if you only have one kid its fine bt then if the kid always gets what he or she wants they will become spoiled and hard to handle. it also depends if this 475 dollars paid for a few expensive gifts or a ton of cheap gifts. if they were more exxpensive and less in quanity your fine, as a teenager, people want less things but unfort. the prices jack up on those items.

YES,YES,YES!!!!If you have that kinda $ to spend, give to food shelters,or cheritys.that 11yr old probably won't even remember or care who, what,or where a 475.00 gift came from in a week.sorry but thats just the way MOST 11yr olds are any more.or may be putting it in an education svings account would be better. But spoiling a child is never good.

it depends on if its one large thing, or many small things, and how much money you have. if its something or many things that he's always wanted, then i guess that would be okay. if its just a random something or something thats in this year out the next, dont bother. merry christmas!!

Yess!!!!!!!!!!
Although i don't no the current rate between dollars and pounds, probably wayyy too much. But if it something veryy (VERY VERY) useful ( i cant actually think what) its should be ok.unless its a pet, as they can be expensive. what will he/she do with the present? if it's wasted, and you know it will break easily, save your money and get something else.

I believe so. If the child really excelled and showed this year he deserved it and you can afford it, then so be it.
I'm 19, I don't even expect to get gifts worth that much!

i dont think that the ammount the present costs is what is important. thhe thought that goes into the present and ammount of appreciation and gratituity the recipient gives towards the gift is what will matter.
