My first instinct is to say sight because I need it to drive, to read, to see my family, to work with my hands, to look in microscopes and to do so many other things I enjoy. However, the sense of touch is under-rated. My son has had quadriplegia for the last 3 years. Now I see his cat rub on his hands and he can't feel the fur, he's had injuries without knowing it, he had kidney stones for who knows how long without realizing it until he ended up with kidney damage, and many other examples of how important the sense of touch is. Truth is, we really need all of our senses, and the loss of any of them is immeasurable.

Sight. Without that, how could I read and answer questions on Yahoo! Answers?
As far as touch goes, you can be trained to live without it. People with Hansen's (leprosy) are trained to keep an eye on their extremities and check 'em for injury.

of course it would be the sense of touch. it is the most useful and it causes almost everything we do. we can't properly walk, hold things, and even speak if we ever lost our tactile sense..

touch. Not only to feel when you are burning your finger on the stove or whatnot, but just touching and being touched. It would be terrible to be numb to everything.
