It's six. Look at it this way: It would be 12 if you count every person shakes two people's hands, that's true. BUT, that is counting A with B and then again B with A. So, it duplicates answers. If you draw the 6 points and then enclose each pair that shakes hands, you will see that it is exactly six.

15. If you want/need to show your work, do this... From each person in the picture provided, draw a line to each other person, starting at person 1. So 1 would shake hands with: 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Then do this with 2; would shake hands with 3,4,5,6 (already shook one's hand). I think you get the point so, do this with persons 3, 4, 5, and 6.
