I notice everyone is quick to point out alcohol as one of the key ingredients. I agree. I would also add that if you can keep active in some way the time will pass much quicker. So offer to make something if you can, a dish you know well, a craft, or grab a kid and build a house of cards or something.
Or you could just be really cynical and sarcastic all night and then never have to go again.
Good luck.

Well I don't have "inlaws". I'm only fourteen I won't have in laws for a while. But my mother actually gets a long with hers, my grandpa is very nice and kind to her. He even tries to help her out, and when she gets into her home sick moods (she's from Germany and her dad is Polish) he helps her out. When it's her and my grandma, they're very good but she can get very...erm annoying and very nosy. But she's not bad.

My dad, I don't know how well he gets along with my mommy's parents because her family is in another country(ies).

Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!

Try to relax and find the good things there are in having family opposed to being alone. I'm sure that they have some good qualities and that they care. Try harder to be friendly. The results may surprise you and you'll end up with the biggest Christmas gift you've ever received ... a close loving family.

I don't have any family an I am single. If I did have inlaws and the were impossible to deal with, I taught myself how to block out people or objects from my mind. (If, I don't like something in my mind the person or object is blocked out).

Try blocking them out of your mind and enjoy yourself, like they are not even there.

Out of mind, out of sight!!
